Can someone clarify the practical difference between hourly and fixed work orders?
My understanding is:
Fixed means you agree to complete the scope for a set amount, regardless of time spent.
Hourly means you’re paid for actual time worked at the agreed rate.
Where I’m unclear is with hourly work orders that include a maximum (for example, “3-hour max”).
If the job runs longer than the stated maximum, what is the buyer’s obligation to pay for the additional time? Is approval required before exceeding the max, or is payment discretionary?
Looking for clarification on how this is typically handled.
