We hope everyone had a nice Labor Day Weekend! ☀️
For this weeks (belated) Tuesday Tip, let's talk Business Entity Validation (BEV).
🚨Please note the below information ONLY currently applies to providers on Field Nation who are completing work orders located in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and/or New York, aka BEV states🚨
Providers who do not complete work orders within these states do not need to do anything related to BEV at this time.
What is BEV?
BEV stands for Business Entity Validation, and is a Field Nation requirement for providers who have completed 50+ work orders in the last twelve months in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and/or New York to validate that they operate as business entities.
Why?
As state and federal laws regarding independent contractors continue to evolve, more companies are needing to work with independent contractors who have validated their status as a business.
If I work in those states, what do I need to know?
Any provider working on Field Nation within a BEV state, regardless of their home address, will be required to validate and maintain their status as a business entity once they hit 50+ work orders in the 12 months.
✅ For each BEV state, two pieces of information will be required to accomplish this:
📑 Proof of legal entity
📑 Proof of registration to conduct business within your jurisdiction for tax purposes
✅ BEV State-specific proof of registration to conduct business within your jurisdiction:
🕶️ California - Business License/Tax Certificate
🦞 Massachusetts - Registration with MassTax Connect
🚢 New Jersey - Business Registration Certificate (BRC)
🗽 New York - Certificate of Authority
